District chess championship held in Danew district of Lebap region
The district open chess championship among boys and girls under 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 was held at sports school No. 1 of Danew district. Nearly 150 young athletes took part. They competed against each other in classical, rapid and blitz formats. First, the chess players competed in the classical format in their age categories. According to its results, among boys and girls under 8, Alihan Seyitjanov and Mahriban Begendikova came out ahead of everyone. Among players under 10, Dovran Merdanov and Melike Altybayeva took first place. Among players under 12, Bayhan Jumayev and Aynur Hemrayeva were unrivalled. In the games involving athletes under 14, Alijan Ahmedov and Merjen Ibragimova scored more points than all their opponents. Among boys and girls under 16, Aybek Sunnetullayev and Mahri Aymakova conceded first place to no one. The rapid and blitz competitions were held in a mixed format without division by age, and boys and girls of all ages took part. According to their results, Mahri Aymakova scored the most points of all and earned the title of champion of Danew district.
