Turkmen doctors perform first orthopaedic surgery using the Pemberton method

Turkmen doctors have performed the first orthopaedic surgery using the Pemberton method. The surgery was performed at the Scientific and Clinical Centre for Maternal and Child Health on a 5-year-old child from Lebap region.

In May last year, Professor Vincent Frimberger, a doctor at the "Dritter Orden" clinic in Germany, shared his experience with Turkmen doctors on methods of treating hip joint diseases using the Pemberton method.

The young patient who received treatment is being treated under the patronage of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. The Fund also provided the health centre with medical equipment for performing the relevant surgeries.

Recently, 10 heart failure, neurosurgery and orthopaedic operations were performed at the International Cardiology Centre. Since the day of its establishment, the Fund has helped to carry out more than 140 operations for children in need of assistance and medical examinations for about 50 children.
