Cotton harvest blessed in Lebap region
On 9 September, along with all corners of our country, the cotton harvest was launched in Lebap region as well, and “white caravan” ceremonies were held. On the occasion of the start of the cotton harvest, a meeting was held at the regional administration with the participation of honoured elders, representatives of public organizations, deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, skilled tenant farmers and relevant institutions and organizations.
After the meeting, a ceremony to launch the 2026 cotton harvest took place at the 9th tenant group of the “Watan” farmers’ association in Charjew district of Lebap region. During the ceremony, the harvesting of cotton began with the “Bismillah” of eloquent elders.
In our region, it is planned to harvest 320 thousand tonnes of cotton from an area of 130 thousand hectares. To ensure a fast pace of the season, 218 “John Deere” cotton-picking combines will be put to work. The harvested crop will be received at 11 cotton-ginning enterprises and 38 cotton procurement points in the region.
At the venue of the event, spirited performances by masters of culture and songs and music rang out, and exhibitions of fruit and vegetable products, works of applied and decorative art and agricultural implements were widely organized. On the day the season was launched, vehicles loaded with the first tonnes of the new harvest were dispatched to the cotton-ginning enterprises and procurement points.
