Turkmenistan’s satellite provides communications for more than 1.2 billion users
The coverage area of “TurkmenÄlem 52°E”, Turkmenistan’s first national satellite, includes Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, the CIS countries and several regions of Asia. More than 1.2 billion people live in these areas.
The launch of the satellite in 2015 was an important stage in developing the national telecommunications infrastructure and expanding international communication capabilities. Turkmenistan is a full member of the International Telecommunication Union and the Universal Postal Union and actively participates in the relevant international initiatives.
The projects being implemented help to develop transit telecommunication routes between Europe and Asia, increase network capacity and strengthen Turkmenistan’s role as an important communications hub of the region.
